Do you want to do research at Chiawelo Community Practice?
Wits Human Research Ethics Committee will want you to provide a letter of ‘permission’ from the managers in Johannesburg. Contact Prof Moosa at email@example.com with protocol and idea. Once you have this signed then you attach to your Ethics application. Once you have your ethics approval, what next? You have to get permission from the Johannesburg Health District Research Committee (DRC)
WHAT IS THE DRC APPROVAL PROCESS?
Ensure you have the following documents as pdf’s to attach to the application form.
- Approved research protocol (with study instruments)
- Ethics clearance certificate
- Proof of submission to the National Health Research Database (usually an automated email of acknowledgment of receipt. Register first)
- Any other relevant documentation
You will NOT be able to complete the application WITHOUT these attachments.
Please fill in the Jhb DRC-RESEARCH Application Form 2016 and send to the Jhb DRC at firstname.lastname@example.org. The proposal and related documents are then forwarded to DRC members for consideration. The DRC is expected to meet 10 times a year (Feb-Nov) on the last Wednesday of the month. The final approval letter will be signed by the Chief Director, Johannesburg Health District and/ or the Executive Director, Health Department, City of Johannesburg. You should get a response within 2-4 weeks of the DRC meeting. If you are following up then please quote your NHRD reference number! You can also visit the DRC Office at the Public Health Unit, 2nd floor; Hillbrow CHC Administration Building, Klein Street, Hillbrow, Johannesburg to follow up.
